Hi all, I emailed many of you the other day with info that NBC was set to air a segment regarding the Jehovah's Witnesses. That segment finally aired tonight. Many of you might not have been able to see it so I'm sending a link I hope you will please take the time to look at. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21917798/ The reality is that over the years when people came forward to report child abuse to their elders, they were told specifically not to report to the police and in many cases when people have gone ahead to take care of matters legally, people have been disfellowshipped or removed from the congregation. This affects ALL of us. Not just JW's. Everytime a potential child molester has not been reported to the police, this means that the child molester has access to children everywhere. The elders, indeed, the Watchtower Society has known about this and has only finally started to change their policies when it became an issue and they were being called out for it. I've asked you before and I'm asking again, please pass this on. You never know who is talking to a JW at their door and would be too embarrassed to tell their friends. You never know. The only way the media is going to cover this to the extent that they have covered the Catholic Church is if people demand it, so please write into the various media outlets and tell them you want to know more about this! Write NBC and thank them for doing a piece on this and tell them you want to know more! Write your local news and tell them how important this is. In some ways this is worse than the Catholic Church .
The Jehovah's Witnesses silences anyone who dares to question the authority of the Watchtower Society. There are thousands of people who have lost all contact with their family and friends for questioning their beliefs and the manner that the WTS has handled the child abuse. New Idea for Christmas Decorating?

maybe family, possibly friends.. hell, i wouldn't mind seeing people i wasn't all that close with.. i hope one day i'll come here and find my sisters or my nephews or nieces or cousins ..... or some good friends that i miss...... .

I have had three people contact me that I had known in the past. A couple of others whom might have crossed my path, but we couldn't recall precisely. I, if you might have noticed, am quite the same person in real life as here, and so it pretty easy to identify me if you ever knew me or my location.

Two were friendly. Another was a cyber-stalker [likely a local Jw], who then disapeared into the fog of cyberdom to lurk silently I suppose.
Cyber stalker huh? Isn't that nice?! But two vs one is not too bad.
Of course with me - if you want to know who I am I will give you my address and number and a damned map. That's just me.

YAMS or SWEET POTATOES: need recipes
by AWAKE&WATCHING ini always add butter, brown sugar, pecans and marshmallows.
sometimes i whip them like mashed potatoes and sometimes i cut them in chunks.
any other ideas?

This is what I'm making:
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/2 cups warm mashed sweet potatoes
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1/2 cup flaked coconut
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- .
- Topping:
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup pecan pieces
- 1/4 cup flour
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- dash salt
PREPARATION:
Combine mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, butter, egg, coconut, milk and vanilla; mix well. Pour into a buttered 1- to 1 1/2-quart casserole dish. Mix light brown sugar, pecans, flour, melted butter or margarine, and salt. I made this last year for Thanksgiving and loved it. I was asked to make it for Christmas and wouldn't ya know, I couldn't find the recipe. So when I started planning dinner for this Thanksgiving I found it again and bookmarked it. Horrible Life: You sound like me a bit. I think there is a poster here, Inky (maybe its Inkling) and that reminded me of an old friend and before I had the chance to figure out whether or not it was her, I had learned that she is in China, possibly serving as a special pioneer.
I have found one person kind of through here. She was at an apostafest a couple of years ago. She recognized me from when I was a kid.
So, I know there is always hope....

Gossip.
Really bad gossip in the field ministry. Pioneers no less.
After that I ended up just finding one person to go out in service with because I didn't want to hear the gossip.
It ticked me off and came across as so mean and unloving.
